I joined the care profession while raising my children and found my calling in dementia care here in 1996. After years of supporting others and leading our dementia unit, I became home manager in 2013. With over 25 years at Upper Mead, a Level 5 Diploma, and two outstanding awards, I’m proud to lead a team that truly cares.
Together, we support our residents with the same kindness and dedication we’d give our own families.

Convelescent Care FAQs
Convalescent care is short-term, goal-oriented support for individuals recovering from illness, injury, or surgery. Its purpose is to help individuals regain strength and independence in a nurturing, safe environment. Unlike respite care, which focuses on providing a break for caregivers, convalescent care prioritises recovery and rehabilitation.
This type of care is best suited for anyone with a temporary reduction in independence following surgery, a fall, a stroke, or serious illness. People who no longer need hospital care, but aren’t fully ready to manage on their own yet.
Services typically include personal care, like assistance with bathing, dressing, and medication, as well as daily living support, such as meals, laundry, cleaning, and therapeutic input, which often involves physical, occupational, or speech therapy, depending on individual recovery goals.
