Admissions & Referrals
Absolutely, we understand that navigating care funding can feel overwhelming. Our friendly team is experienced in supporting families through this process and can explain all the options available to you. Whether you’re exploring private care or applying for funding support, we’re here to help.
Yes, we offer trial stays and short-term placements for those looking for respite care or to experience life at Upper Mead before making a longer-term decision. These stays are ideal for recovery, giving carers a break, or simply testing the waters in a new environment. Our team will ensure everything is in place so that residents feel safe, welcomed, and well cared for during their stay.
You don’t necessarily need a GP or council referral — many of our residents come to us privately. However, we also work closely with the local authority and NHS for those eligible for funded care. No matter your route, we’ll make the admissions process as smooth and supportive as possible.
Referrals can be made directly by families, GPs, hospitals, or the local authority. Whether you’re enquiring on behalf of a loved one or as a healthcare professional, our team is here to support you through every step. We’re happy to talk through the process and help arrange an assessment to determine the most appropriate type of care.
